The Baylor Bears are #23 in the Week 2 AP Top 25

Washington's drubbing of Boise State and Oregon State's horrific loss to a FCS opened up two new spots in the AP Top 25, now occupied by #20 Washington and the #23 Baylor Bears!

Moments ago, the AP released its Week 2 Top 25, the first this season to include our Baylor Bears.  Baylor jumped from 27 in the poll, in the receiving votes category, all the way to #23 with the losses of Boise State and Oregon State this weekend.  The Bears' impressive domination of a good Wofford team, or a Wofford team that many suspect will be good, eventually, earned them the spot over other challengers looking to make the jump, like Michigan State.

Now the only question will be whether the Coaches' Poll finds similar room for the Bears.  We have significantly more room to make up in that poll than the AP one, so I'm going to guess no.  But an argument can be made, for sure, based on the results from this weekend.  There's a pretty good chance, depending on your biases, that Baylor was either the best or second-best team in the state this weekend. We're also #24 on Dennis Dodd's Power Rankings after Week 1. The world is taking notice.

Congratulations, Bears!

UPDATE -- The Coaches' Poll is out now, and as expected, we didn't make it.  We are, however, just on the cusp now as the top "receiving votes" getter not in the 25.  So that's a plus!  SB Nation has you covered on the Coaches' Poll, too.
