The finalists for the major non-Heisman awards in college football were announced a few minutes ago, and Baylor OG Cyril Richardson is the only Bear to make any of the cuts. We had a shot with Antwan Goodley making as a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff, but that list was whittled down to just Brandin Cooks, Mike Evans, and Sammy Watkins.
As happy as I am to see Cyril so honored, I'm a bit surprised that Alabama's Cyrus Kouandjio didn't make the list, which also includes A&M's stud OT Jake Matthews and Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald. I'm less surprised that neither Bryce Petty nor Antwan Goodley made the finals for their respective positions or the Maxwell.
Regardless, congratulations from ODB to Cyril Richardson! He's Baylor's first finalist since most of our team was either in diapers or not yet born. According to Baylor, standout DT Santana Dotson made the cut way back in 1991.
Props to OG Cyril Richardson, 1 of 3 finalists for the 2013 @outlandtrophy. #SicEm pic.twitter.com/iR08QXzctC
