After a standout preseason cut short by a concussion, word is that the former Baylor Basketball player-turned-NFL TE Rico Gathers has made the 53-man roster for the Dallas Cowboys. Gathers took to Twitter shortly after the news started to circulate.
A great feeling to know that my hard work has paid off up until this point and It's just the beginning ! Feels good to be a Cowboy ⭐️.

A lot of people will never understand the dedication and sacrifice you have to have to make this transition. Day in and Day out.

It's not easy at all I promise. I was a outsider looking in scratching at the door of the unknown. One man with one vision.

People doubted me and questioned my work ethic because it was unheard of for a guy who hadn't played since 8th grade to excel at this level.

You say I can't but He says I will. And as long as that's understood then I'll never fall short of any goal in life.#FromRebounds2Touchdowns

Thanks to all my coaches, teammates, and the whole Dallas Cowboys organization for this wonderful opportunity. Everybody made this possible.

I think I can speak for everyone here at ODB when I say how thrilled I am to see the next step in Rico’s dream come true. I’ve seen it posited that the Cowboys may now put him on the IR due to the concussion to make room for another player, but that’s yet to be seen. Regardless, he’s a true-blue NFL player now, and I can’t wait to see him in action!
Congrats, Rico! Baylor Nation is proud of you!
