There is no typographical error in the above image. Your eyes are not fooling you. Baylor actually did allow 5 runs in the ninth inning of Friday's game to lose in hilariously pathetic fashion. That really happened.
We were already eliminated from Big 12 Championship contention by virtue of Oklahoma's win earlier in the day, but this loss added insult to injury. It also dropped us back to .500, something we've tried to avoid all season. I don't know if I totally subscribe to Bill Simmons' "gut punch loss" theory, but if one existed for a baseball team, this qualified.

Then it got so much worse. From the point where the Bears swept Texas on April 28 to get to 24-20, Baylor lost 8 of their last 11 games, including basically getting swept twice (at KU and in the Big 12 Championship), and will now go home having finished below .500 for the first time in 5 years. I don't know if Steve Smith is going to lose his job, but you at least have to talk about it if you're Baylor.
What a disaster. There was a time this season when Baylor held first place in the conference, if you can believe it. Now we not only won't make the postseason, we can't, because you have to be above .500 to do so.
Oh yeah, and there's this.
#TexasTech went 3-1 against Baylor this yr - marked the 1st time Tech has defeated BU 3 times in 1 season since 2004.
