There are several games to keep your eye on this weekend. Not only will the Big 12 get a chance to showcase itself early against other P-5 opponents, but fans will also be able to watch a top-10 game. As always, I’ll try to highlight a game in each time window.
Kansas State vs. Stanford- Neither of these teams play the most exciting brand of football, however, I think the Wildcats will look to make a statement. They were a completely different team with a healthy Skylar Thompson last year and he is back for 2021. It’s a neutral site that will be televised on FS1 @ 11:00 AM.
Miami vs. Alabama - Not a bad top-15 matchup in the middle of the afternoon. The Hurricanes will actually have more experience at some key positions—whether or not that means anything at all is still to be determined. The game will be on ABC @ 2:30
Houston vs. Texas Tech - Obviously, I know that there are other games with potential playoff implications during the evening time slot, but for fans around Texas this is the most interesting matchup. Tons of storylines this one— two old SWC rivalries playing a “neutral” site game in Houston, Matt Wells on the hot seat, and the potential of UH joining a restructured Big 12.
It’s great to have football back in full swing. Enjoy your Labor Day Weekend.
