Mark Vital Signs with Chiefs Practice Squad

Champions respect champions

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Kansas City Chiefs Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Mark Vital, national champion, Baylor’s winningest Big 12 basketball player and Baylor graduate, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad today.

Vital played for the Blazer’s NBA Summer League Team.

After significant football interest, he elected to join the Seahawks practice squad. The Seahawks released Vital, but he just signed with the Chiefs.

Vital had not played football in years, but he’s incredibly quick and strong. He was once a high school phenom for his dunks, and his defensive acumen made him a finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award.

The Chiefs had former NFL Hall of Famer, Tony Gonzalez, for the first 12 years of his career. Gonzalez played basketball at Cal.

Transitioning to the highest level of a sport isn’t easy. The NFL will soon realize defending Mark Vital isn’t either.
