The Baylor baseball team played their best games of the year this weekend in Lubbock. The Bears took the Friday and Sunday games in route to their third straight conference series win. It was an opportunity to increase the chances of making the NCAA tournament and thankfully Baylor took advantage. Below are some notes from over the weekend:

  • Baylor scored 26 runs, including 7 HRs.
  • Baylor switched up the pitching rotation by moving Hayden Kettler up from the Sunday starter to the Saturday slot. It looks like that is a formula that will improve the team. Saturday’s game was a pitcher’s duel where one inning really decided the game.
  • Sunday Starter, Blake Helton, deserves some recognition after his gritty performance. It seemed like Tech was threatening with runners in scoring position every inning and yet Helton battled through it.
  • Homeruns, timely hitting, good defense, and solid pitching—all were on display for the green & gold this weekend in west Texas. Just an overall fun weekend series to watch.

The Bears will be back in action for a mid-week game against Prairie View A&M and a weekend a home series against Kansas State.
