With the Big 12 announcing it is going to go ahead with football this fall, the conference has been working on a modified schedule to create the flexibility needed to deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Some details about that schedule have now emerged, with many thinking a full schedule will be released soon.
Big 12 schedule notes sources told @Stadium
— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) August 12, 2020
*Big 12 games begin Sept. 26; title game Dec. 12 (Arlington)
* Start of season can be delayed to Oct. 10 & end Dec. 12 w/title game Dec. 19
* Sept. 26 KU at BU, UT at TT, WVU at OSU, KSU at OU, ISU at TCU
* OU-UT still Oct. 10 in Dallas
Worth noting is that the Big 12 has substantial flexibility in both the conference start date and end date. That’s essential for what is sure to be a bizarre season (assuming there is a season). If conference play starts on time, Baylor will host Kansas on September 26th.
Baylor was originally slated to host Kansas for its opener, so not much has changed on that front other than the game being pushed back two weeks at least.
Other opening week games include Texas @ Texas Tech, Iowa State @ TCU, WVU @ OSU, and KSU @ OU.
Of course, if Nebraska carries through with its wild threat and tries to play in a conference outside of the Big 10, this schedule could very quickly change.
