Love explained his decision in SI:
I told Coach (Scott) Drew and Coach (Jerome) Tang at the same time and they started screaming and jumping up and down! Haha!
It was great to see that and to know that they were so happy about my commitment.
It’s really a relief to have this decision out of the way because I can just focus on getting better in every way.
I’m just happy that I’ll be able to play at such a great school for such a great coaching staff and in my home state!
Everybody wanted Love. His final 11 had: Kansas, UCLA, Villanova, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Illinois, Arkansas and Baylor.
Love should play immediately. He’s supremely talented, and Baylor will have at least some opening in the backcourt with MaCio Teague—if he decides to return—playing his final year in 2021. Jared Butler—who still has not announced if he’s coming back—and Davion Mitchell could also be gone.
Baylor has reloaded. With L.J. Cryer—a top 100 player and point guard, Adam Flagler—a skilled transfer and Love, the Bears will have a skilled backcourt in 2022.
