MaCio Teague Announces He’s Entering NBA Draft, but Keeping All Options Open

Teague is Baylor’s first player to announce an NBA Draft decision

NCAA Basketball: Kansas State at Baylor Raymond Carlin III-USA TODAY Sports

Macio Teague announced on his Instagram and Twitter pages that he will enter the 2020 NBA Draft. He clarified that he is keeping all options open, which means he could return to Baylor for his senior season.

Players have to enter the NBA Draft by April 26th. They can withdraw their names and return to school by June 15th. But with coronavirus, those deadlines, along with the NBA Draft deadline, could get moved.

The NBA Draft process is radically different. Normally Teague would get the opportunity to work out for NBA teams and participate in scrimmages. With coronavirus that won’t happen. But Teague will get the chance to talk with NBA teams and see if he has a shot to earn an NBA contract. Or if he elects to return to school, he’ll hear what the NBA and professional leagues would like to see him work on.

Teague averaged 14 points and five rebounds per game. After playing two seasons at UNC-Asheville, he started every game that he was healthy for the Bears.

Nobody else from Baylor has announced their NBA Draft plans. With coronavirus, it’s tough to predict anything.
