Baylor Ranked No. 2 in Preseason AP Top 25; Bears Received 24 First Place Votes

The Baylor Bears open the season ranked No. 2 in the AP Top 25. That’s the highest opening ranking in program history.

Baylor received 24 of-64 first place votes. The Bears trail Gonzaga by one point (1,541 to 1,540).

Villanova is ranked No. 3.

The Bears will play the Bulldogs to open the season, and they should play Villanova in a multi-team event as well.

Kansas is ranked No. 6. Texas Tech (14), West Virginia (15) and Texas (19) round out Big 12 ranked teams.

The Bears return four starters from last season’s team that spent five straight weeks at No. 1. Baylor is ranked No. 1 on KenPom.
