Baylor was picked sixth in the preseason Big 12 poll. The poll is voted on by the media.

Baylor has a case to be ranked higher. The Bears return Charlie Brewer and most of their offensive skill players. Baylor also returns James Lynch and Clay Johnston on defense, along with a handful of other starters. Lynch and Johnston two were named to the league’s preseason team.

It’s not too surprising Baylor slotted at sixth though. The Bears finished last season 7-6 and other than Texas, no team vaults into perceived contender status with that record.

The Bears think they’re better than sixth. They’ll get the chance to prove it.
