Opponent: University of Texas - San Antonio
Nickname: The Roadrunners
Kickoff: September 7th, 3:00 PM CT
Location: McLane Stadium
Conference: Conference USA
Head coach: Frank Wilson
Last year’s record: 3-9
Notable outcomes: Lost to Baylor 37-20; lost to Kansas State 41-17; defeated Rice 20-3
Key losses: Greg Campbell Jr., WR; D.J. Gillins, QB; Josiah Tauaefa LB; Les Maruo LB
Strength: Defensive line. The Roadrunners lose only one defensive lineman, the rest are set to return and they were pretty good last season.
Weakness: The entire offense. They were horrendous last season, ranking second to last in the FBS, and are losing some of the only contributors they had. Young guys will have to step up otherwise it could be another long season.
Prediction: Baylor is just a much better team than the Roadrunners on paper. They get to play them at home with an FCS tune up game already under the belt. Baylor’s defense should be able to handle the pretty abysmal UTSA offense and the Baylor offense should get separation. The Bears should win this one by 3 or 4 touchdowns, putting them at 2-0 on the season.
35-7 Baylor
