Baylor Baseball’s season ended Sunday with an 11-6 elimination loss to UCLA in the NCAA Tournament.

The Bears got into the loser’s bracket by dropping their opening game against Loyala Maramount 1-3. In order to make it out of the UCLA regional after that loss, Baylor would have to win 4 games in a row.

They got the first game they needed against Omaha in blow out fashion, winning 24-6. Catcher Shea Langeliers set an all-time tournament record with 11 RBIs.

The #1 seed UCLA Bruins lost their game against Loyala, setting up a battle of Bears in the Sunday elimination game. UCLA started the scoring action with a two-run homer. Baylor responded with an RBI double and a two-run homer in the second to go up 3-2.

UCLA responded with a sac fly RBI to make it 3-3. Baylor’s Cole Haring hit his second home run of the game to put the Bears up 4-3. UCLA scored three more to retake a 6-4 lead. Baylor chipped away and got it within one before UCLA put on a few more to get it to 8-5. Baylor got one more while UCLA got another handful and the score rested at 11-6 heading into the 7th. Baylor held the Bruins in that inning but got nothing going themselves after giving up a double play.

In the top of the 8th, Baylor once again got nothing going, hitting into another inning-ending double play. The Bears held in the bottom of the 8th, with the score remaining 11-6 heading into the 9th. Baylor got a runner on third but that was it. The Bears lost 11-6, ending their season that saw a number of positives and a second place Big 12 finish.
