Alright folks, they made it! The Baylor Lady Bears are playing in the first Final Four game of the weekend in Tampa, FL at 6:00 PM CT today on ESPN2. They square off against 2 seed Oregon. For those of you that haven’t followed the Lady Bears’ tournament run so far, it has been an absolutely dominating performance.
They won their tournament opener against 16 seed Abilene Christian 95-38. They beat 8 seed Cal 102-63. They took down 4 seed South Carolina 93-68. And in their most recent game, they eliminated 2 seed Iowa 85-53. For those counting, that makes their closest tournament game so far a 25 point spread. If the Lady Bears keep playing like that this weekend, I think they’re very likely just two games away from a national championship. Their only loss of the entire season was to Stanford, who has already been eliminated.
Oregon has had some much closer games, winning their Sweet Sixteen game against South Dakota State by 10 and their Elite Eight game against Mississippi State by only 4. I’m inclined to believe Baylor will pull this one out and reach the championship game on Sunday.
