The Bears defeated Oklahoma 3-2 in extra innings Sunday afternoon, retaining sole position of first place in the Big 12 conference. Baylor has yet to be on the losing side of any of its four conference series so far.
Right now, it looks like Baylor will only go as far as the hitting takes them. With injuries to the starting pitching staff, it has been the bats that have been reliable. Going into this weekend the Bears boasted the best batting average in the Big 12. Led by two veterans, Shea Langeliers and Davis Wendzel, this Baylor lineup is a tough task even for the better pitchers in the conference.
There is still a lot of baseball to be played and I get the feeling we will get a better feeling of where Baylor will end up in postseason play after the next couple of weekends. The Bears must travel to Lubbock and Fort Worth to face off against two talented teams in back to back to weekends.
