Baylor-Georgia: TV, Line, Prediction and More!

Sic ‘Em!

NCAA Football: Iowa State at Baylor Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Baylor takes on Georgia at 7:45 pm on Wednesday in the Sugar Bowl. The contest is in New Orleans.

The game airs on ESPN.

The Bears are now 5.5 point underdogs on most books. Georgia opened as 8.5 point favorites, but the Bulldogs have several players that have elected to go pro early. Georgia is down at least three starting offensive linemen. Kirby Smart has not confirmed some of their other players being out.

Whether Matt Rhule leaves for the NFL is a backdrop for this game. I’m really not that focused on it. If Rhule leaves, he helped rebuild Baylor after the scandal. And I can’t be that mad if someone wants to be an NFL coach; it’s not like he’s leaving for some mediocre college team, say a Texas A&M. We also don’t even know that he’s leaving.

Instead, enjoy the Sugar Bowl. Charlie Brewer is back, and the Bears have a chance to win a New Year’s Six Bowl. That hasn’t happened in the BCS or Playoff era. We’ll have plenty of time to discuss the NFL coaching search and whether James Lynch elects to go pro after Wednesday.

Travis will have more detail on the game—and we’ll try to Facebook Live from New Orleans on Tuesday at around 5 pm—but my prediction is that Baylor wins 20-17.
