For the first time since 2016, Baylor is ranked in the top 25. The Bears are ranked No. 22 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the Amway Coaches Poll.
Oklahoma is the Big 12's best team. But Texas being crowned the league's second best team is crazy. Baylor ranks better in SP+ and has a massively better defense. Texas could be better, but losing to an SEC team doesn't make you the Big 12's second best; it makes you Texas A&M.

Baylor ranks No. 15 in SP+. That ranking is done by Bill Connelly, a longtime SB Nation writer who now works for ESPN. His rankings are designed to be predictive. His system has Baylor No. 26 on offense and No. 20 on defense. Iowa State is 14th in his rankings and Texas is 20th.
Baylor's next opponent, Texas Tech, comes in at #33 with the #46 offense and #37 defense. Very similar in ranking to Kansas State, though they do it in different ways. They differ in rating by about 7.5 points, so Baylor should be about a 10 point home favorite.
