Jared Butler, a 2018 4-star point guard and former Alabama commit, is heading to Baylor, multiple sources have told Our Daily Bears. Baylor landed one of his there official visits, but he committed to Alabama last year and was expected to play major minutes for the Crimson Tide this season.
Baylor has received Butler’s paperwork.
Alabama granted Butler his release. Alabama recently landed Kira Lewis, a 5-star point guard, who reclassified to the 2018 class.
Butler was a top 100 recruit in the 2018 class and averaged 14 points and four assists per game on the EBYL circuit. He was also one of Louisiana’s nominees for the McDonald’s All-America game.
Butler gives the Bears an additional point guard for next season. With the news Lindsey is unable to play this season, as we reported earlier today, that makes Butler a huge addition for the Bears. Makai Mason, a Yale transfer, is expected to be the Bears’ starting point guard.
Davion Mitchell, an Auburn transfer who is sitting out this season, will join him as an eligible point guard on the 2019-2020 roster.
