With the number 3 pick in the NFL draft, the New York Jets selected USC quarterback Sam Darnold. And with that selection, it seems Bryce Petty, former Baylor quarterback star, had his fate with the organization sealed. Petty was waived today from the roster, cutting the New York Jets down to four quarterbacks.
Petty had an outstanding career at Baylor, leading the Bears to an 11-2 record and Big 12 championship in 2013 and another 11-2, Big 12 championship season in 2014. Petty had also recently come back and spoken with the current team after their spring game. Here is a video of that speech:

While Bryce Petty found loads of success at Baylor, his time with the New York Jets was more hazardous. A fourth round pick, Petty went only 1-6 as a starter. In those starts, he threw 4 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions, and only completed 53 percent of his pass attempts. With his departure from the Jets, it will be time to see if Petty can find another home in the NFL. No matter where his journey leads, Sic ‘em Bryce!
