Baylor Lady Bears Down Kansas Jawhawks 88-51

Lady Bears improve to 15-0 in Big XII play. Can clinch their eighth-straight conference title with win over Texas in Austin on Monday.

Improving to 25-1 on the season, the Lady Bears down the Jawhawks 88-51 to complete the sweep of the Jawhawks for the season. The Lady Bears look to do the same in Austin on Monday against the Texas Longhorns. The Jawhawks have the second worst conference record at 2-13 while Texas has the second best conference record at 12-2. Baylor leads the Big XII with an undefeated conference record of 15-0. Baylor can clinch the conference title with a sweep of Texas for the season on Monday.

In today’s game, Kristy Wallace led the Lady Bears in scoring with 26 points. Baylor’s bigs, Kalani Brown and Lauren Cox, had to sit out much of the first half with early foul trouble.

At the half, both teams were shooting exactly the same 50%, 55.6% from outside the arc. In the second half, Baylor improved to 50.7% shooting for the game but held Kansas to 33.3% for the game. In the second half Baylor scored more than twice as much as Kansas, outscoring the Jawhawks 41-20.

Baylor’s assists to turnover ratio was an incredible 27-5 with all five turnovers occurring in the final quarter. Baylor’s ball control allowed them to take a 47-31 lead into the half-time break.
