Women's Soccer, vs Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 6:00 PM

Soccer

Baylor Soccer kicks off the 2017-2018 Baylor Athletics Season today with an exhibition match against Texas A&M Corpus Christi @ 6:00 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field. The match is open to the public and is free. From Baylor Bears dot com.

The evening will feature the Bears in one of two home exhibition tilts before the regular season kicks off Aug. 18 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette. The match is the first opportunity for fans to catch a look at how the 2017 squad is forming together.

The Bears reported to preseason camp Aug. 1, only holding four full days of training prior to Sunday's tilt. BU will host their other exhibition match on Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. against Abilene Christian.

BU is coming off a 12-7-1 (4-3-1 Big 12) campaign in 2016 in which their season ended at the Big 12 Championship. No. 3 seed Baylor topped No. 6 Oklahoma State before falling to No. 7 seed TCU. The Bears return 20 players, including seven starters, while welcoming eight newcomers for the 2017 season.

Baylor's London advances to 400m semifinals at World Championships, Wil London finished second in his heat to advance, while Texas A&M's Fred Kerley won his heat.

Acrobatics & Tumbling

A&T's Bravo Named to USA Gymnastics T&T National Team, Baylor acrobatics & tumbling incoming junior-transfer Hope Bravo was named to the 2017 USA Gymnastics Senior Elite Trampoline & Tumbling National Team. She will be competing for a spot to represent the U.S. at the World Championships Nov. 9-19 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Lady Bears Basketball

Kalani Brown Named to USA U23 National Team, Baylor women’s basketball post Kalani Brown was selected to the 2017 USA Womens U23 National Team, USA Basketball announced on Friday afternoon. The junior is one of 12 players to represent the Red, White and Blue in the inaugural U23 Four Nations Tournament from August 12-15.
