Crosby running back Craig Williams commits to Baylor - Houston Chronicle, Crosby running back Craig Williams committed to Baylor on Friday, giving the Bears their seventh recruit from the Greater Houston area.

Nicknamed "Sqwirl," Williams is an all-purpose back whose greatest weapon is his speed and elusiveness. He chose Baylor over Arizona State, Auburn, Houston, Colorado, Mississippi State and a host of other notable programs.

He joins Rayburn running back Stanley Hackett, Katy offensive tackle Connor Galvin, Lamar defensive tackle Joshua Landry, Alief Taylor linebacker Joseph Ogunbanjo, Clear Brook athlete Mark Milton and Hempstead safety Delarrin Turner-Yell as Houston-area recruits in the Bears' 2018 recruiting haul.

Same old questions hound Big 12 - Houston Chronicle, While the league's flagship schools Texas and Oklahoma are under new management, the Big 12 still faces questions about its long-term future and status as the weakest of the Power Five conferences.

NCAA adopts sexual violence policy, emphasizing education, NCAA member schools will be required to provide sexual violence education for all college athletes, coaches and athletics administrators under a policy announced Thursday by the organization’s board of governors.

The NCAA policy does not delve into bans, restrictions or punishments for athletes who commit sexual violence, deferring to schools to set and follow their own policies.

NCAA to require sexual assault prevention training | Firstcoastnews.com, “Too many schools thought that they could handle, the athletic department could handle complaints about sexual assault within the athletic department and that’s just not true,” said Nancy Hogshead-Makar who runs Champion Women, an advocate group for girls and women in sports based in Jacksonville.

“It is really positive that schools have to report to the NCAA that they have done training."

According to the 2016 U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, one-in-five women were sexually assaulted in college. 12.5 percent of the women who said they were raped reported the assault to colleges or law enforcement.

She said the sexual assault training isn’t limited to just cases of rape.

“There are portions in the training they have to do that deals with domestic violence, dating violence and stalking violence," she said.
