Football:

You probably saw this, but we didn’t do a DBR yesterday. Tanner Thrift is retiring from football. From Jake Trotter of ESPN:

Thrift is Baylor's second projected starting offensive lineman to retire this year. Left tackle Dominic Desouza left the team in February.

The Associated Press has a look at Bryce Petty:

For Petty, there was a lengthy list of things he needed to work on in the offseason, from seeing the field better to reading defenses more confidently, to basic mechanics and footwork.

Another key is staying healthy. Petty hurt his right shoulder in the preseason last summer, then was injured twice in his limited action during the regular season, with the second ending his stint as the starter.

Golf:

Hoops:

Johnathan Motley will work out for the Lakers. From Harrison Faigen of our Laker’s blog:

The Lakers will still work out at least one player that day, however, as Mark Medina of the Orange County Register reports that Baylor forward Johnathan Motley “plans to be part of the Lakers’ pre-draft workout on June 9.”

Ben Rubin, a quality writer for all things NBA Draft, discussed Taurean Prince’s rookie season in an article:

Limited minutes and small sample caveats may apply. Yet in those minutes Taurean Prince looked at times like he may be on his way to being a special defensive player, and that’s backed up by the numbers. Offensively, sure, he’s got a long way to go. He’s not a perfect player by any means, but that defensive ability gives Prince a path to bringing major value to his NBA team.
