Our Daily Mailbag 5/26- Football, Hoops and Freedom

The mailbag returns

The plan has been to run the mailbag on Thursday, but we made it here by the weekend. We’ll also do a Facebook Live or two in Dallas this weekend.

Let’s get to it.

This is an unpopular opinion, but I would not add anything else. Baylor plays a ton of sports.

I would be okay with Baylor playing lacrosse at the NCAA level.

Flour. This is like the oxford comma though. I have an opinion on it, but I can roll with whatever. Nobody should get too mad about a comma or a tortilla. Either one is fine.

Connor Martin and Drew Galitz both have very nice moments. College kickers often struggle too. I think one of them is a consistent guy this year, but they won’t be one of the five best guys in the country.

I don’t know what a Topo Chico is, so I will say it is either underrated or properly rated.

Rico will make the Cowboys roster. If he doesn’t, all these stories about Rico Gathers making leaps are lies. They can’t all be lies.

GameDay will come to Waco someday. It won’t be for a while.

I’ve got Baylor at 7-6 this season. The team could win 10 games, but the depth is a huge issue at so many positions. The Big 12 is also a lot better than people that hate the league would like to admit.

For all the hate Waco receives, there are so many good spots to eat by Baylor. Clay Pot has excellent Vietnamese food. There’s just about every good fast food spot within a mile. I don’t live near a Whataburger, Taco Cabana, Torchy’s or In-N-Out. I wish I lived by any of them. And somehow they added a Raising Cane’s over there. I really do miss Waco.

I’ve heard nothing on that front. I would guess Baylor will continue to wear the occasional ridiculous Nike uniform because highlighter is a beautiful color.

I’ll reserve judgment until it comes out. The promo mentions that they spoke with coaches. We’ll see if there’s anything new revealed.

I provided a look at that here.

We’ll break down recruiting in detail and the new guys in the Facebook Live on Saturday. The big need remains a quarterback.

Zach Lowe. If you hate the options, pick new ones.

This question is so wonderful though, I’ll answer it. I think it’s Cowherd by a decent bit. He has moments where he has no idea what he’s talking about, but he’s not Skip Bayless. That man believes nothing he says, yet he says it as though he believes everything he’s ever said. I can’t respect that.

If only someone had tackled this right here.

No clue. I will guess that she does not.

If Joe Flacco is elite, then Zach Smith is definitely elite.

If anyone missed this dudebro coming at Mark, it’s something.

We live in a hyper-partisan time. I have deeply held political beliefs. But if whatever you believe causes you to lose it because someone tweets out a joke about an airplane maneuver where nobody was hurt, then it’s time to calm down.

If he doesn’t play, Baylor’s defense will definitely be worse. If he plays, he’s one of, if not Baylor’s best player.

Yes. The Duke game is fairly tough, and UTSA is better than some of Baylor’s past opponents. Baylor is still a good deal better than all three opponents.

It will be tough. TCU will be at home, and they should be about as good as they were last year. Maybe Kenny Hill just isn’t good. But I think TCU will probably win that game. I hope I’m wrong.

The starting group will be pretty solid. The problem, like the problem for much of the football team, is that the depth gets shaky fast.

That’s it for this mailbag. We’ll try to have one on Thursday next week. But if we’re being honest, it will probably be on Friday.

Sic ‘Em!
