Baylor target Jalen Mayden has committed to Mississippi State. That news is not surprising. He’s a talented and intelligent quarterback and is a nice addition for Mississippi State.
Baylor has two quarterbacks they’ve recruited heavily and could still land. The first—and most likely to commit—is Tanner Mordecai. He’s heading into his senior year as the starting QB at Midway. All five crystal ball predictions on 247 have him ending up at Baylor. He’s a top 500 national player on 247 and has offers from several schools, including Oklahoma, Missouri and North Carolina. Baylor will have a tough battle to earn his commitment, but Baylor seems to be the favorite.
The second quarterback is Gerry Bohanon. He was thought to be a Mississippi State lean, but with Mayden’s commitment, the Bears have a shot. Baylor was listed in his top six along with Louisville, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Georgia. The signal-caller from Arkansas is a top 300 player on 247.
Matt Rhule and his staff have shattered expectations for how quickly they could build strong recruiting classes. They should be able to land a good quarterback in the 2018 class.
