Baylor Loses to Texas Tech 77-53

The Bears start Big 12 play with a loss

Baylor (10-3, 0-1) was walloped by Texas Tech (12-1, 1-0) 77-53. Jo Lual-Acuil was out with a foot injury, and the Bears missed him. They also missed plenty of shots, rebounds and scoring opportunities. Baylor will need to play much better to have a shot against TCU on January 2nd.

Terry Maston returned after missing the last six games with a broken hand. But he wasn’t close to being back to normal. He air balled two of his first three shots and finished with zero points.

Texas Tech blew out the Bears in the first half. Baylor was down 40-19 at the break. The Red Raiders led the Bears in every statistical category. That may have been the worst half of Baylor basketball since 2011. The offense couldn’t get much going, and the team seemed to pass up semi-open 3-point shots.

The second half wasn’t kind for Baylor either. Texas Tech continued to make shots, and the Bears did not. Once again, the Red Raiders were better at nearly everything. The Bears went on a 10-0 run late, but the game was completely over by then. Maybe you can squint and find something positive from that run. Ultimately, the Bears desperately need to get healthy.
