Bears cruise past Jayhawks for first win of the season | The Baylor Lariat, Baylor football finally earned its first victory of the season against the Kansas Jayhawks (1-8) this past weekend, cruising to a 38-9 win in Lawrence, Kan.

Freshman quarterback Charlie Brewer was impressive in his first starting game for Baylor (1-8). Brewer passed for 315 yards and three touchdowns, and he completed 23 of his 29 passes. Brewer also ran for 22 yards and caught a pass for 20 yards off a trick play from sophomore wide receiver Jared Atkinson.

Baylor head coach Matt Rhule said the young quarterback exceeded his expectations.

“I thought he was really, really good,” Rhule said. “We had a good plan to keep it simple for him, but he threw the ball down the field a good bit and he had a chance at a couple other ones. So, we were aggressive. We know Charlie is a good player and he can run around and make some plays.”

105 implementations simplified | The Baylor Lariat, Baylor released a document on Friday explaining the ways it has implemented Pepper Hamilton’s 105 recommendations. The Lariat staff broke down these explanations to make them easier to understand. The Pepper Hamilton recommendations are listed in bold, followed by the simplified explanations.

Court orders Baylor to disclose confidential records | The Baylor Lariat, Baylor lost its fought to prevent the disclosure of certain confidential medical and counseling records on Monday when U.S. District Court Judge Robert Pitman ordered the university to disclose information under limited conditions.

“The issues at stake in this action are indisputably important, and data regarding reports of sexual assault will play an important role in resolving Plaintiffs’ heightened-risk claims,” Pitman wrote in the order.

Pitman further stated it would be “virtually impossible” for the plaintiffs, 10 women who allege the university mishandled their sexual assault reports, to access the data otherwise.
