We are reminded today of all those who have risked their lives, some, even making the ultimate sacrifice, to safeguard our nation and to protect life and liberty at home and abroad. Indeed, many such heroes live among us daily.

On this Veterans Day, we honor the men and women of the armed services, those serving our nation now and those who have served at other critical times in our history. We remain a free nation today because of the selfless servants who choose to wear the uniform of the United States armed services.
