Baylor Lady Bears Storm Back in 2nd Quarter to Rein in Sooners, Final Baylor 92 Oklahoma 58

Down by 5 at the end of the first quarter, Oklahoma 20 Baylor 15, the Lady Bears scored 30 points in the 2nd including a 15-0 run in the middle to put the Lady Bears up 45-32 at the half.

Baylor coach Kim Mulkey told her squad at the end of the first quarter to be more aggressive in transition and to crash the glass. Some fans described the Bears as having shifted from first gear to second gear as they flexed their muscle to show why they are the nation’s leader in almost all statistical categories.

Oklahoma, the number 4 shot blocker in Div. I, had only 2 blocks today. Baylor, the No. 1 NCAA shot blocker had 8.

Assists to turnovers tells the story today. Baylor had 27 assists to 13 turnovers while Oklahoma was only 9 assists to 17 turnovers. Baylor shot 50% from the floor while Oklahoma made only 26% of their shots from the floor.

Jones joined former center Brittney Griner as the only Lady Bears to record a triple-double. Griner had five in her career, the last on March 3, 2013 against West Virginia.

Baylor (21-1, 10-0 Big 12) shot 57 percent over the final three quarters after struggling to 6 of 20 in the opening 10 minutes. Reserve Khadijiah Cave had 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting, Nina Davis added 13 points and Alexis Prince finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

From AP from ESPN: The Lady Bears' size and depth make a tough matchup for anyone in the country and it showed again Sunday. Baylor outrebounded Oklahoma 55-44, blocked eight shots and held a 60-26 edge in the paint.

Baylor goes on the road for its next two games, against Iowa State on Wednesday and Texas Tech on Saturday.
