Victoria Powell, track and field star from The Lovett School in Atlanta who helped them win back to back state titles in 2014 and 2015, shares why she chose Baylor despite the “Baylor Scandal.” From Sporting news:
Because I’m an incoming freshman, I’m about as informed as anyone else who watched ESPN or read articles or saw the departures of the athletic director, a beloved football coach and the school president. But I chose Baylor based on my personal experience and the interactions I had with the community, which made a lasting and strong impression, and my gut feeling.

The Austin American-Statesman says that Baylor’s new defensive scheme will be linebacker friendly.
Defensive coordinator Phil Bennett trotted out the 3-4 in spring workouts and showed off the scheme in a final April scrimmage.
Grobe, who played linebacker in college and cut his coaching teeth tutoring the position, seems fine with the change, even if he’s hesitant to officially announce it to the public. Big 12 offenses are trending more toward the run, but the league is still known for its passing.
Juco OL Tyrae Simmons is expected to join the Baylor Football team in the coming weeks. From WacoTrib:
Baylor interim coach Jim Grobe said Simmons has finished an online class, and Baylor is waiting on a grade and his junior college transcript.
Simmons will be a welcome addition for the Bears on a thin offensive line.
“Once we get that (transcript) hopefully we can get him on the field sooner than later,” Grobe said. “That’s the position we need the most, so it would be nice to get him out there.”
