After his arrest for felony stalking on Monday, Outside the Lines is now reporting Rami Hammad was accused in the middle of the 2015 football season of sexually assaulting a previous girlfriend.
OTL is also reporting that same woman had a no contact order from Baylor, and the woman reported Hammad violated the no-contact order. Two other witnesses reported the no-contact violation to the police. The woman in the 2015 allegation declined to press charges but believed the Title IX office would handle it.
Outside the Lines has the full story, which everyone should read. It includes more horrific allegations, including that the woman talked to another acquaintance who was also sexually assaulted by Hammad.
Hammad was suspended from team activities after his arrest on Monday.
There are a number of questions this story will lead to. Were coaches aware of what happened in 2015? If not, why were they not aware? Was the Title IX investigation handled properly in 2015? Did the University or anyone else connected to Baylor football know about any of these incidents after the Pepper Hamilton investigation?
We’ll keep you posted as more details come out.
