Daily Bears Reports 8/2: Lynx Hawthorne is nominated for Good Works Team and Noah Daniels receives his “Official Offer Letter.”

Lynx Hawthorne played returner, receiver and quarterback in 2015, sounds like a Heisman candidate.

Lynx Hawthorne is following in the path of Baylor Football stars Robert Griffin III and Bryce Petty with his being nominated for the 2016 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The Victoria Advocate brings us this story about the Baylor receiver from Refugio, TX.

Hawthorne has been active in the community by volunteering with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as a Huddle sponsor for Carver Middle School over the past year. He has given his time to pack meals as part of the annual Feed My Starving Children event at Baylor. Hawthorne has also worked with Special Olympics and Lil' Wranglers programs.

The Bears are coming off a 9-6-4 (4-1-2 Big 12, second place) campaign in 2015 in which their season ended in the semifinals at the Big 12 Championship. Baylor returns 22 players, including eight starters, while welcoming 10 newcomers for the 2016 season. BU begins preseason camp on Tuesday before hosting exhibition matches against the Houston Dash on Aug. 11 and Houston Baptist on Aug. 13. Baylor’s season opener is on Aug. 19 at Detroit Mercy.

In a continuing effort to provide alumni, parents and the general public with a convenient online ordering system for Family Weekend and Homecoming special events, Baylor University will launch event ticket sales at 10 a.m. CT Tuesday, Aug. 9.
