Hello, ODB-ers! As the Baylor school year has now ended and the last of the spring sports are in their final games it seemed to be a good time to bring back ODB Rewind for the long summer season. For those who are new or unfamiliar, ODB Rewind was a week-by-week replay of 2013's championship football season where we watched each game of the 2013 season every Saturday "together" (well, all of the games minus the Fiesta Bowl. Why? BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHY!). Last year's Rewind had a mixed reception due to a number of reasons and I want to ask for your input for this year's rewind.
Firstly, we need to pin down a good time that would work for more people. Last year I would post the game around 11 A.M. (CT) Saturday because that was the time and day deemed most accessible with the limited research I did before starting the series. It turned out that that wasn't as good a time for a lot of people hence the "together" above having the sarcastic quotations. I would like to hear what day of the week would work best for you so below you will find a survey for that. After we lock down a good day for most, we'll see about what time would be best for that day.
The second problem I'd like to address was the medium with which we viewed the game together. Last year I would just embed a youtube video in an article and tell everyone to start it at a certain time. Well this felt less like watching the game together and more like, well, not at all really. For those who are internet and media savvy, I'm asking for your help here. I think it would be better if we could all watch the same game at the same time. I tried using Sync Video to make a share-able video but it did a lousy job playing the game I found on youtube. What else is free and easily accessible that we could use to watch the games together? Leave a comment if you know of such a website or service. Thanks!
A third complaint from last year was that the games took up too much time to watch so this will be fixed by showing the shorter, edited games like the No Huddle rebroadcasts from FOX.
If you have any other insights or suggestions please feel free to leave them in the comments section.
(And for any of those wondering what the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks happened to my Trench Warfare series: my lazy ass will get to finishing them at some point this summer. Hopefully soon and definitely before the start of the 2015 season.)
Edit (05/21/15): The votes are in and it appears that the weekend would be the best time to have the rewind with Saturday and Sunday getting the most votes. Below you will find a new poll to choose either Saturday or Sunday for watching the games together.
