Softball Beats Texas Tech 3-0

Baylor Softball took an early series lead against Texas Tech last night at Getterman Stadium, knocking off the Red Raiders by a score of 3-0. There are two games remaining in the series, the first of which is tonight at 6:30 p.m. in Getterman Stadium, and the last of which will be tomorrow at noon.

The win included a catch that nearly forced Jessie Scroggins to run through the fence in center field. Glenn Moore says it ranks among the best catches he's seen as a coach.

I mean, whoa.

Baseball Falls 9-8 to Texas State

Texas State forced extra innings with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the ninth, and stole the win with a walkoff home run in the bottom of the tenth. Baylor managed to steal defeat from the jaws of victory, but signs of life from the offense are encouraging and the remainder of the series will be held in Waco.

Additionally, I hope you'll read this piece on Texas State baseball coach Ty Harrington, a man with deep ties to Waco and Baylor who is battling cancer. It was a touching read. Harrington graduated from Midway High School in Waco and lost his parents (his father had been a Baylor football player) to a car wreck.

Nine teams will be in attendance, including Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, North Texas, Oklahoma, SMU, Texas State, UT Arlington, and TCU.

Women's Tennis at Texas Tech Tomorrow

Women's Tennis has skewered the rest of the Big 12 so far in 2015, and looks to do the exact same thing to Texas Tech tomorrow in Lubbock at 11 a.m.  Tech is one of the best teams left in the league, and a Baylor loss will let pretty much everyone else back into the race, but a win will make a BU championship difficult to avert.

In the tweet above is the Waco Trib's Kim Gorum's assessment of the NCAA Tennis landscape as it stands right now. If you've got some time and feel like gobbling up some statistics, go for it. There's a nice bit about how UT playing on alternate home courts could be an equalizing factor because Baylor has been so dominant on UT's actual courts.

The Daily Bear

I see this picture describing bears as "acting Italian" on a weekly basis on twitter, retweeted by some anonymous retweet-farmer. Since I'm actually going to Italy today, I figure I'll finally post this legitimately funny one as a Daily Bear.
