No, it's not in football, but Baylor and Oregon play tonight!

You can read David Fankhauser's excellent game preview post here. Both teams are 1-0; Baylor punished SFA (a team that's made two straight NCAA tournaments and returned four starters) 97-55 on Friday night with Rico Gathers scoring 18 and five other players reaching double digits.

Oregon beat Jackson State 80-52 the same night with guard Tyler Dorsey dropping 20 points, 18 of which came in the first half. According to everything I've researched, Oregon plays tough, physical defense. They recorded 9 blocks against JSU and F Chris Boucher had five of them. Not too shabby.

I was lucky enough to watch Baylor play basketball in person for the first time in five years on Friday night, and I must say I was in love with the seemingly complete game we played. I have no complaints whatsoever; all around, we executed a perfect game against a solid SFA squad. Let's see if we can do the same thing tonight.

DARTHBEAR'S SPICY HOT TAEK: Lot's of defense in this game. I predict that neither team will surpass 70, and Rico has a big night grabbing boards. The matchup between Taurean Prince and Chris Boucher will undoubtedly be a great one, so keep your eyes peeled on those two. Baylor has 3 players reach double-digits and pull away with a strong second half.

The Bears come and take it. 63-52 Baylor.

As Fank pointed out in his preview, here are the projected starters for the game.

Baylor

  • G - Lester Medford (SR | 11 | Tucson, AZ)
  • G - Ish Wainright (JR | 24 | Kansas City, MO)
  • G - Al Freeman (SO | 25 | Charlotte, NC)
  • F - Rico Gathers (SR | 2 | LaPlace, LA)
  • F - Taurean Prince (SR | 21 | San Antonio, TX)

Oregon

  • G - Casey Benson (SO | 2 | Tempe, AZ)
  • G - Tyler Dorsey (FR | 5 | Los Angeles, CA)
  • F - Elgin Cook (SR | 23 | Milwaukee, WI)
  • F - Dillon Brooks (SO | 24 | Mississauga, ON)
  • C - Chris Boucher (SR | 25 | Montreal, QC)
