Bears Shine in Eugene
Baylor has some stars in track and field this year. Sprinter Trayvon Bromell gets most of the press, but other members of the team have been shining the entire season, and continued to perform well yesterday. One of the highlights was Erin Atkinson, who earned All-American status in the women's hammer throw (which I consider to be the most metal event at the entire meet).

Atkinson finished 8th on the day after two throws, and advanced to the finals.
Both the men and women's 4x100 relay teams were eliminated. The men's loss was the result of a botched baton transfer, and the women were knocked from the leaderboard by an incredibly strong last heat.

The men's relay team should improve next year with the development of Bromell and two new sprinters that were signed in the last two months.
Bromell was the star of the day once again, setting a school record in the 100m. Unfortunately, it was just too windy for him to officially tie the NCAA record in the event, but he'll have another go at it in the finals, hopefully with more record-friendly weather.

He. Fast.
TJ Holmes also made it into the finals in the 400m hurdles.

Johnson's event sounds like my own personal nightmare. Props to her for running quickly over long distances. I could never do it.
Tiffani McReynolds didn't make the cut in the 100m dash, but the 100 hurdles are her primary event.
