Thursday Daily Bears Report: Whitney Canion's Last Rodeo

Softball kicks off the Women's College World Series today at 11 a.m. on ESPN. If you've ever had any doubts about the sport, tune in- I guarantee you'll have a good time.

Real News

Our boy Matthew Tennant is in Oklahoma City today to take in the Women's College World Series for himself, and he mentioned that he might do a writeup on it after the game. The Lady Bears have the honor of playing the first game of the long weekend. They'll do so against the Florida Gators, a team that I picked apart as well as I could in yesterday's Daily Bears Report. This weekend will be the last time several key seniors wear green and gold. Since the WCWS is kind of a big deal, I'll whip up a preview for the next game, which will either be Friday at 6 p.m. or Saturday at 11 a.m.

There's not a lot going on in the world of college sports right now. Besides softball, there is only one other Baylor crew active at the moment: Track and Field is gearing up for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds. 12 male and 22 female competitors, including all four of Baylor's relay teams, will vie for a spot at the NCAA National Championships in June.

SB Nation annually puts together All-California, All-Florida, and All-Texas teams in college football, since those three states are the biggest talent hotbeds in the country. Guess who has seven members of the All-Texas squad, most of any school?

The Blog is Expanding to Meet the Needs of the Expanding Blog

The magnificent digital steamship we call Our Daily Bears (boat references are appropriate, just look at the hat) is in full summer mode. I discovered the site around this time last year, shortly after my high school graduation, and I fell in love with the bizarre, hilarious, and well-informed community that I found. After months of lurking and commenting, I find myself in the terrifying position of generating content for the site- AND SO CAN YOU! ODB is looking for new contributors over the summer, and if you think you fit the mold, shoot an email to OurDailyBears@gmail.comRefer to last night's post for more information.

Just don't steal my job please. I like this job.

I'm taking a trip to Waco today to pick up some things I left with a friend, so if anyone between Waco and Tyler needs a George's delivery, let me know and I'll personally disappoint you. Cheers!
