I've got a bajillion and one things to do today, so the DBR will likely be a bit shorter than normal.

Baylor Football 2014 Spring Scrimmage Open Thread - ODB
The cold(ish) weather couldn't stop 3,750 Baylor fans from making their way to Waco to watch the Big 12 Champions finish their spring practice cycle. Yesterday saw the Bears take the field sans several offensive linemen. As such, there was a good deal more 7 vs 7 than in previous years. Nevertheless, the offense still showed flashes of that explosive play we all know and love. Briles said that the objective of this scrimmage was to keep everyone healthy and they accomplished that, so I am not at all worried about the sputtering offense we saw yesterday. If Briles was pleased with the scrimmage, I am pleased with the scrimmage.
The defense was surprisingly good. I mainly focused on the secondary, as they were some of the biggest unknowns. While our starting secondary mostly played against second team offense, I was pleasantly surprised to see how well they were doing. Sure, there was a missed coverage here and there, but overall I was very impressed with the work the secondary did. It definitely helps them that they have Shawn Oakman on the DL blowing people up.

Rivalry Weekend
MLS's Rivalry Weekend produced some thrilling games yesterday. The Portland Timbers - Seattle Sounders matchwas hyped up by MLS all week to be THE game to watch. What fans got was something even better. The Timbers went down early, 0-1, but quickly came back and took the lead, 2-1. Clint Dempsey equalised before the half, setting up a cracker of a second half. Portland, behind a pair of beautiful strikes, jumped out to a 4-2 lead and looked to have the rivalry match in the bag. Captain America (Dempsey) thought otherwise. He scored two goals late to salvage a point for the Sounders. As a Timbers fans, the draw was disheartening, but my, what a match it was.
FC Dallas dominated the Houston Dynamo, 4-1, to maintain possession of El Capitan, a replica 18th-century howitzer that the winning team gets to keep. Je-Vaughan Watson had himself a brace in the second half to put the Hoops in the driver's seat for good.

Final Four
Somehow, the Wildcats won yet another thriller to advance to the Championship game on Monday. UConn, meanwhile, outmatched the larger Florida Gators to advance. This should be an excellent game.
