Thursday Daily Bears Report: Equal Opportunity Tennis Domination

Yesterday was headlined by a pair of victories in Men's and Women's Tennis, both of which are ranked in the top 20 and are now set to move up. Excellent things are happening everywhere.

Yesterday was a day of victories for Baylor nation in a sport that often goes unappreciated. Both of Baylor's tennis teams are national contenders, and Waco is home to some of the finest collegiate facilities in the world, a claim that was validated in December when Baylor was selected to host the 2015 NCAA Tennis Championships. The women took home an always-satisfying close win over TCU in Fort Worth, and the men shut out No. 25 South Florida in Waco. Earlier this season, Baylor star Nick Lenz beat the No. 1 singles player in the nation in a team upset over UCLA. This is a program that bolsters our national athletic reputation and deserves all the attention it can get. Sic 'em Tennis Bears.

Spring Football Game

Baylor put out an official release regarding Saturday's open scrimmage. The game will be at 11 a.m. at the practice fields adjacent to the Highers Athletic Complex, just like last year. If you're coming, try to arrive early if you want a seat in the bleachers. Last year was a fun time, and pretty much every Baylor celebrity in Waco is there. I caught sight of Kim Mulkey, Scott Drew, Ken Starr, and several others wandering around and interacting with the crowd. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it out this year, since Spring Premiere and a Diadeloso workday will occupy my Saturday. Have a good time, and take notes for those of us who will be absent.

Please.

As excited as I am about every part of our team, tight end might be the most intriguing position. Tre'von Armstead is a monster, Jordan Feuerbacher is a huge freshman talent, and Gus Penning has a lot to prove. Saturday should give us some answers.

Do the things, win the points.

Bromell Claims Second Straight Big 12 Athlete of the Week Honor - The honors kept rolling in for Baylor track and field freshman Trayvon Bromell on Wednesday as he was named the Big 12 Male Athlete of the Week for a second straight week, the conference office announced. The announcement came on the heels of Bromell being named USTFCCA National Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

Jones Named Big 12 Men's Golfer of the Month - Baylor junior Kyle Jones has been named March's Big 12 Men's Golfer of the Month, becoming the fourth Baylor player honored since the award was established in 2002.

Baseball Wins 4-3 Decision vs. Incarnate Word - Behind a strong effort on the mound from Daniel Castano, Baylor baseball claimed a 4-3 win over Incarnate Word on Wednesday evening at Baylor Ballpark. And now they get to visit Texas on the road, where the Bears are hapless this season.

Fußballspiel

I know nothing about soccer, football, or whatever that sport's name is. I do know that Mexico and the United States tied in what was described to me as a "pride game" by my suitemate, who is a wonderful human being who just wants me to love soccer, football, or whatever that sport's name is. I know that America should have won (in part because America should always win everything, and in part because of a sketchy offsides call) and I know that this is newsworthy and very important to many of our readers. Discuss this Fußballspiel (the German word I have elected to use given the apparent regarding whether to call the game soccer or football) and whether the US got shafted, or whether this is just a category in which our far-reaching hegemony fails to give us an advantage.
