Friday DBR: Back to School

Dia has come and gone. Now back to school and, more importantly, back to sports.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

There were no Baylor sports yesterday. Unfortunately, that sentence will be applicable to many a day in the coming months. Thankfully, that day is not today. Let's preview Friday's action!

In Season: Baseball and Softball

Baseball Set for Weekend Split Series vs. Dallas Baptist - BaylorBears.com

Baseball to Host Doubleheader on Saturday's HOT Community Tailgate - BaylorBears.com

Baylor and Dallas Baptist begin a three-game series tonight at 6:30 in Dallas as the Bears look to end their streak of bad play. The two teams will come to Waco tomorrow for a double header. Saturday will also be the Heart of Texas Community Tailgate day at the baseball and softball games.

The event will get under way at 1 p.m. with inflatables, carnival games and lunch at the ballpark featuring free food, Dr Pepper products and Bluebell ice cream. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Free general admission tickets to the Baylor softball and baseball games - while supplies last - will be available starting at 1 p.m.

Baylor Baseball will also be giving away sophomore trading cards to the first 500 fans and there will be a chipping contest between the games Saturday on the field in celebration of the Masters (registration is at the game). I took Beginner Golf last semester, so I'm fixin' to own this contest.

No. 12 SB to Clash in 3-Game Series with No. 13 OU - BaylorBears.com

Defending national champions Oklahoma are welcomed to Waco by the consensus No. 12 Baylor Lady Bears. Tonight's game begins at 6:30 at Getterman Stadium and FSSW+. The series should be excellent and I'd highly recommend getting out to a game or three if you can.

I'm starting to this this Whitney Canion gal is good at softball or something...

Basically, if you're not watching Baylor bat sports this weekend, you're doing the weekend wrong.

Off Season: Football, MBB, and WBB

Texas and Baylor are believed to be the front-runners now for Ridge Point HS CB Jordan Tolbert after he decommitted from Houston yesterday.

Best of the Rest

Barnes Pleased with Volleyball's Progress in Spring Season - BaylorBears.com

Baylor Volleyball is 5-1 through six spring scrimmages. Head coach Jim Barnes is pleased with how his team has progressed during the offseason. Baylor will return to action in Dallas on April 19.

Baylor Fútbol heads to Denton to take on North Texas in its final exhibition game of the spring. With a shutout the Fútbol Bears will have allowed exactly zero goals all spring.

WT Hosts No. 23 Oklahoma State, No. 18 Oklahoma - BaylorBears.com

Women's Tennis "welcomes" the Okie schools to Waco this weekend. Personally, I hope the welcoming comes in the form of two 7-0 beatdowns. Tonight's match against Okie Lite begins at 5:00 over at the Hurd.

Men's Tennis Travels to Oklahoma for Two-Match Weekend - BaylorBears.com

Like the Women's team, the Men's Tennis team will face both teams from Oklahoma this weekend. Unfortunately, unlike the ladies, they have to actually go to Oklahoma. On Friday, No. 6 Baylor will put its undefeated Big 12 record on the line against the similarly perfect Sooners at 5:30. Crush em.

The Masters

Former Baylor Golfer Walker Playing at Augusta - BaylorBears.com

Jimmy Walker is only the second Baylor golfer ever to play in the Masters. After the first round, he is sitting in a tie for fifth at two-under. Leader Bill Haas is at four-under. Spreading the green and gold afar!

McLane Stadium Seating Selection

Have a question about McLane Stadium seating? Consult the Things You Need to Know About McLane Stadium Seating from Baylor! Good luck to all y'all, may the odds be ever in your favor, and leave a decent seat for me when I graduate.

If you haven't read this, do it. Now. Seriously, this is perhaps the best piece of sports reporting I have ever read.
