Baylor Baseball is back today! The Bears start their 2013 season at UC-Irvine with a three-game series across this weekend, followed by Tuesday's home opener against Texas State. Despite losing many of their talented and experienced players from last season's highly successful team, the Bears look to build on that season and return to the NCAA tournament. All games can be heard on 1660 ESPN Waco, and live-streaming audio is available on BaylorBears.com.
Baylor Softball hosts the Miken Classic this weekend, wrapping up their 12-game season opening homestand. The Lady Bears are 5-2 behind some spectacular pitching, and will play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Pacific, and Northern Colorado across the three day span. Despite the solidity of the pitching, head coach Glenn Moore wants more offensive production from his team, as the Lady Bears have only scored 15 runs in their 7 games played.
Baylor Men's Basketball had two student-athletes make the Academic All-Big 12 First Team for the first time since 2008. Brady Heslip and Jacob Neubert join Josh Lomers and Mark Shepherd as the only other teammates to make the first team in the same year. In other basketball news, the Bears are currently being projected as a 10-seed by a number of bracketology experts, though the region of that 10-seed varies.
