Pierre Jackson was named the Big 12 MBB Player of the Week for the last week, his first time for the honor and and fourth time for a Big 12 weekly honor. The Bears won at home against Oklahoma State and away against TCU last week with Jackson leading the team in scoring in both games. Jackson also leads the Big 12 in scoring, with 18.7 points per game on average, while also having 5.9 assists per game.
In news that surprises no one, the Baylor Lady Bears remained at the top of the polls this week after their wins over Iowa State and Oklahoma. The Lady Bears play against Texas Tech in Lubbock on Wednesday and travel to Stillwater on Saturday.
Baylor Softball was ranked 10th by espnW in their preseason countdown, citing the return of All-American Whitney Canion from ACL injury as vital to the Lady Bears' success. The Lady Bears also return a great deal of their infield, and look to work on the offensive side of the game, to overcome Getterman Stadium's reputation as a pitcher's park.
