Brittney Griner broke the NCAA all-time record for career blocks on Saturday in the Lady Bears' 82-65 win over 20th-ranked Oklahoma. Her 8 blocks in the game give her a total 664 for her career, with half a season left to play. The Lady Bears also extended their record of consecutive conference wins to 30 and their home winning streak to 50 with the win over an Oklahoma team that kept life interesting by going 11-26 from the three-point line. Griner was honored as espnW's player of the week for both her record-breaking performance on Saturday and her 22 point, 8 rebound, 6 block performance against Iowa State earlier in the week. The Lady Bears play next at Texas Tech on Wednesday, and Griner needs only 3 points in that game to break the Big 12 career scoring record.

The Baylor Bears faced TCU in Fort Worth Saturday and came away with a fairly easy 82-56 win behind Pierre Jackson's 20 points and Isaiah Austin's 18 points. Though Austin went off the court at half-time with what looked like a serious injury, he returned for the second half with only an ankle sprain. TCU coach Trent Johnson says that Baylor is the most talented team in the nation, with length, size, and quickness that makes them dangerous.

Baylor Women's Tennis rallied to a 4-3 win over Texas Tech after dropping both doubles sets and two singles sets to the Lady Raiders in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Lady Bears now advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships held later in the season, but will next face 4th-ranked Florida in Gainsville on February 2nd.

Baylor Track and Field's closed out the Razorback Invitational with strong performances from Felix Obi and Tiffani McReynolds. Obi set a new school record in the triple jump, flying 52-4.5' to a 3rd place finish, while McReynolds set a new personal-season-best with her 60m hurdles winning time of 8.10 sec.

I missed this a few days ago, but Baylor quarterback Nick Florence was picked as the number 24 player in the Big 12 for last season by the folks at the ESPN Big 12 blog. Florence broke RG3's school record for passing yards last season in Baylor's win over UCLA in the Holiday Bowl.
