The first weekly results of the SBNation BlogPoll, which I previewed a bit yesterday, are out with Baylor in the "receiving votes" category. Despite ODB's best efforts to get them into the poll, it seems we'll have to wait at least two more weeks (because we don't play on Saturday) to get another chance. Unless something really screwy happens and a ton of teams lose games they shouldn't.
The first link above takes you to the official BlogPoll review, complete with information about the most divergent individual schools, the strangest (compared to the mean) blog ballots, and both the most and least biased blogs overall. I am happy to report that in our first ballot ever, ODB appeared in none of the negative categories where two of our Big XII compadres did. The fact that we also did not appear in a positive category should be dismissed outright as nonsense. That "explore votes by team" link lets you view who voted which team where. Clicking on that link and then choosing Baylor reveals that not only was ODB in good company voting for our Bears in the top-25, we ranked them eighth-highest out of the 91 ballots. 7 other blogs ranked Baylor higher than we did, including one vote by the SEC-specific blog Team Speed Kills that placed the Bears 8th. That's 8th overall. I have neither the time or the inclination to understand their methodology, so I will merely congratulate them on being awesome.
From the notes of the strange, three blogs voted for A&M (one as high as 12th) for God knows what reason. And in an example of the truly absurd, the same Iowa blog that voted Oklahoma State first also voted Texas Tech 14th. That's when you know you have a bad process, guys.
The official BlogPoll Top 25 is below the jump.
Worry not that we didn't make the Top 25 this time. We will. This is only the beginning.
