Daily Bears Report 09.03.2012

What a fantastic way to start off the season!

Everybody's writing about Baylor's rout of SMU yesterday, and a lot of them don't mention that this was tagged as the "potential upset of the week." The Bears might be criminally underrated again, and Nick Florence and the offense proved that a catchy nickname is not totally necessary to score points. Baylor's defense showed some improvement from last year, while keeping their trademark opportunistic style, with Mike Hicks recovering a fumble and taking it 66 yards to score.

Nick Florence gets some love from CBSSports.com, and in true-Baylor-QB form, talks more about the defense than himself. SBNation Dallas says that it has to feel good to defeat a former SWC rival, and in a change from the last story, Baylor "still [has] enough talent to grind out their third consecutive bowl appearance." The Bears proved that they'll be just fine without RG3, and that Nick Florence is just fine replacing "The Man," even though the previous man won a Heisman. Finally, the DMN College Sports blog covers the 5 key points to Baylor's win last night.

Baylor Soccer held a shut-out for the fourth time in the six games they've played in their 5-0 victory over McNeese State last night. 5 different Bears recorded scores and Baylor moved to 5-1 on the season. The Bears are on the road for their next two games, playing at North Texas on the 7th and at UTSA on the 9th. Both of those games are at 7:00 PM.

Baylor Volleyball wrapped up their trip to Hawaii with a 3-1 win over San Francisco on Sunday, after a hard-fought loss to (6) Hawaii. The Bears are 5-1 overall and return home to the Ferrell Center on Tuesday to play Texas State at 7:00 PM.

Enjoy your Labor Day!
