Daily Bears Report 09.27.2012

Would you believe that Baylor is actually the underdog this weekend? Shocking, I know!

Jerome Miron-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Hopefully everyone planned their game watching parties to be inside, since the weather around here isn't exactly going to be conducive to sitting outside.

At some point, I hope, there will be articles about seeing if schools other than Baylor are "for real" but this is not that week, and for some reason that previous link has a really odd picture at the top, so be warned. The ESPN predictions go pretty much the way you'd expect them to. The one thing that is certain about both teams is that they like to score a lot, so [insert hackneyed joke about scoreboards and lights here.] Baylor fans might have gotten a bit spoiled in regards to the running game the last few years, and while Baylor is still racking up the ground yards, they're not doing it quite as much. This weekend's game is a "Coach to Cure MD" game, and both coaching staffs will be wearing patches/signifiers to bring awareness to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Baylor Softball released their 2013 schedule yesterday, a 54 game slate that includes 21 games against teams selected to the NCAA tournament and 12 against College World Series teams. The Lady Bears will open their season at home February 7th, hosting Northern Illinois, Sam Houston State, and Illinois State at the Getterman Classic. Their first conference game is March 23rd against Texas, here at Baylor.

The Phoenix Mercury won the WNBA draft lottery yesterday, and the chance to possibly select Brittney Griner during the WNBA draft in April. Griner is the current Associated Press Player of the Year and was one of the key members of the National Champion Lady Bears last year.

Finally, I'm still not sure if these (2, 3) are legitimate uniform pictures, but if they are, then I will limit myself to saying I hate the font. If anyone knows anything about these potential Baylor uniforms, leave a comment.
