Anyone planning to drive to Louisiana this weekend? Anyone? Anyone? (Bueller?)
Not surprisingly, Baylor is on "upset watch" from a lot of sources this week, and even though the Bears are (as of yesterday) favored by a touchdown, it would be really quite a bad idea to underestimate the "giant-killers" of ULM, who themselves could be compared to Baylor. (BearsIllustrated ($) preview here.) One of Art Briles' not-really-secret-weapons is Lache Seastrunk and the mutters that he should see more time are increasing. (#FreeLache).
Everyone seems to think that Art Briles is just looking or a way to get away from Baylor, and that the first caller who can throw $Texas at him will "lure him away to greener pastures." Now, this has been discussed on this site before, but I don't think that Briles is going anywhere for a long while. Finally, here's how the Baylor Football alumni performed in the NFL across the last week.
Brittney Griner and Odyssey Sims are on the 25-member preseason Wade Trophy watch list, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced yesterday. Other nominees include standouts such as Elena Della Donne and Chiney Ogwumike. Griner was the 2012 Wade Trophy winner.
Women's Golf finished sixth at the McGuire Invitational, shooting a 10-over-par in yesterday's final round. The Lady Bears were in the lead with 7 holes left, but fell 8 shots behind the winner Iowa State. Their next tournament is in three weeks in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Baylor Volleyball had their 9 game winning streak snapped by a 3-0 loss to North Texas last night. The Bears (13-2) open Big 12 play next, at (19) Iowa State in Ames.
And for those of you who are fans of the odd, have some unrelated-to-Baylor weird baseball. Well, free baseball. Weird and free baseball.
