Normally I’ll try and have the BLR up the Monday or Tuesday following the game so that I’m able to kind of get a feel for how people felt before, during, and after the game, then also have a head start on seeing what the feel around campus is about the next week’s opponent.

Seeing as it was a bye week for the Bears this past weekend, there isn’t really anything to say about last week except for the fact that most everyone I talked to on campus and heard just walking around wished that there was a game. Needless to say, people around campus are excited for Saturday’s game against Sam Houston State. The confidence level is through the roof to defeat the Bearkats.

It was cool watching freshman in the line attend their first ever college football game about two weeks ago and watch Baylor absolutely dominate SMU. I guess I have it pretty good being a freshman this year. I’ve been a Baylor fan for a while, but I’ve never been on campus for a football season so I never knew how other people felt about the team throughout the season. From what I’ve heard form past students and even current upper classmen is that the reaction to Baylor football has never been this positive. Granted, I guess that change will happen when the team produces a dynamic player that wins the Heisman and then garners offensive player of the week honors in his first ever NFL start. It’s a great time to be a Baylor Bear. As my time at my high school was winding down I told people that the Bears were on their way up, and the best response I got was that they’re already there.

I can’t promise that I’ll have any great pictures from this week’s game running the line, but I’ll see what I can do. The only thing I hope is that students are able to bring water into the game, or that water is offered if the heat is as bad as it was last game. I’m not saying this will affect weather or not I go to the game, but watching people pass out due to heat while waiting to run in the line isn’t a sight I like to see. This probably won’t be a problem though since the forecast calls for rain this weekend.

An interesting note about Saturday’s game, from what I’ve read here on ODB (form Mark mainly) is that the Bearkats are predominantly a running team and Baylor, although they had a strong defensive performance last week, (that felt weird to type) the defensive line is still a weakness. Baylor’s high powered offense should make up for this, but if its pouring down rain the passing game may not be as high powered as it has the potential to be. Absolute worst-case scenario is that these factors come close to leveling the playing field. I’m not worried about the Bears on Saturday, but even as a fan I don’t like to take my opponent lightly. Besides, even if we have to switch a more dominant rushing attack, I wouldn’t mind watching our massive offensive line maul and wear down Sam Houston State’s defense and watch Salubi, Martin, and Seastrunk run all over the field. Seastrunk’s name just sounds like he’d be a good wet turf runner. I know I’d love to see more of him.
