OF Darryn Sheppard commits to Baylor Baseball

We haven't covered baseball recruiting much because there typically isn't much to cover. Desire isn't the issue; typically, commitments aren't broadcast all that widely and the information is hard to come by. When something does come up, however, we'll do our best to bring it to you as we do everything else. We're lucky this time that the recruit announced his commitment openly and it showed up on a twitter search for "Baylor."

It doesn't hurt, either, that this is apparently a recruit of some note. ESPN ranks him 44th in the country in this year's class and 6th in the state, the best we've gotten so far by far. Miles will be happy about that. Subscribers at PerfectGame can view the 6-1, 180-pound outfielder's profile and maybe share a few details about him. The basic extent of my knowledge is that he lives in Sugar Land, Texas and goes to Dulles High School. According to the caption on this image, he had 20 extra-base hits this past season with 7 home runs. That's pretty impressive.

You can also follow the new Bear on twitter if you want to read mostly about the goings-on at Dulles HS. I know I do!
